Creating a Google API Console project and client ID<\/h1>\n

Before you can integrate Google Sign-In into your website, you must have a Google API Console project. In the project, you create a client ID, which you need to call the sign-in API.<\/p>\n

To create a Google API Console project and client ID, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Go to the\u00a0Google API Console\u00a0<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. From the project drop-down, select an existing\u00a0project\u00a0<\/a>, or create a new one by selecting\u00a0Create a new project<\/b>.\n

    Note:<\/b>\u00a0Use a single project to hold all platform instances of your app (Android, iOS, web, etc.), each with a different Client ID.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. In the sidebar under “APIs & Services”, select\u00a0Credentials<\/b>, then select the\u00a0OAuth consent screen<\/b>tab.\n

    1. Choose an\u00a0Email Address<\/b>, specify a\u00a0Product Name<\/b>, and press\u00a0Save<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    2. In the\u00a0Credentials<\/b>\u00a0tab, select the\u00a0Create credentials<\/b>\u00a0drop-down list, and choose\u00a0OAuth client ID<\/b>.<\/li>\n
    3. Under\u00a0Application type<\/b>, select\u00a0Web application<\/b>.
      \nRegister the origins from which your app is allowed to access the Google APIs, as follows. An origin is a unique combination of protocol, hostname, and port.<\/p>\n

      1. In the\u00a0Authorized JavaScript origins<\/b>\u00a0field, enter the origin for your app. You can enter multiple origins to allow for your app to run on different protocols, domains, or subdomains. You cannot use wildcards. In the example below, the second URL could be a production URL.\n

        http<\/span>:<\/span>\/\/localhost:8080<\/span>\nhttps<\/span>:<\/span>\/\/myproductionurl.example.com<\/span><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
      2. The\u00a0Authorized redirect URI<\/b>field does not require a value. Redirect URIs are not used with JavaScript APIs.<\/li>\n
      3. Press the\u00a0Create<\/b>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      4. From the resulting\u00a0OAuth client dialog box<\/b>, copy the\u00a0Client ID<\/b>\u00a0. The Client ID lets your app access enabled Google APIs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
